La Vie En Rose
Who was your date to prom? For Fall-Winter ’16, BCALLA captures that awkward, sweet moment when we fully subscribe to pop culture ideals of love and chivalry. BCALLA calls upon the New Romantics and the anthems of Army of Lovers, Nina Hagen, and Danielle Dax to shade the collection, accessing their nostalgia but more importantly, romance. With a decidedly queer color palette, BCALLA FW16 plays with conventions of gowns and suits. Iridescent ruffles, rhinestones and exposed midriffs are a nod to Jessica McClintock. Frankenstein-stitched, patchwork pieces with DIY embellishments bring the punk kids to the dance. Connecting that moment when all disenfranchised queer high schoolers have to decide what to wear and who to ask, to the force and magic behind queer nightlife, BCALLA has created the cotillion he’s always wanted.
This campaign, in the tradition of masters Pierre & Gilles and David LaChapelle, was art directed and photographed by Michael Burk. It features a cast of BCALLA favorites: Pearl, Melanie Gaydos, Richie Shazam, Maya Monès, George Mott, Peter B Staples, and NEOCAMP.
In honor of St. Valentine’s Day, BCALLA has created Valentine e-cards which can be shared with friends and lovers. Scroll below to see and share!
